Biography
As a former journalist with CNN and CNBC, I have covered numerous disasters and epidemics, leading me to my PhD study and influencing my research interests which include understanding how socio-political dynamics and factors such as migration, globalization etc. impact DRR policies and the role of technology for DRR. My PhD examines the vulnerability and capacities of South Asian migrants in the face of natural hazards and to identify strategies for migrant inclusive DRR policies and practice. I hope to understand South Asian migrants’ experience, vulnerability and capacities in the face of disasters as well as to identify strategies to foster their participation in DRR activities.
