Su Myat Kyaw

 

Biography

Su is currently a PhD student in Disaster Risk Management and Development, focusing on migrant communities in low-lying and/or floodplain areas of Auckland and their understanding on climate change adaptation. Received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from her homeland, Myanmar, Su worked as a medical doctor until she studied her Master program at AUT in 2019. After graduating her Master of Disaster Risk Management and Development in 2021, she worked with MSF-Holland (Me’decins Sans Frontie’res) in Rakhine state, border area of Bangladesh and Myanmar. Her job nature (working with minority ethnic group, Rohingya, and tides’ nature) made her interested in pursuing PhD research related to migrant communities and climate change.
