Biography

Su Myat Htet is currently doing her master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management and Development at AUT. Her research focuses on "Investigating the effectiveness of risk communication towards Asian migrants: A case study of the January Auckland flash flood, 2023". Her research aims to enhance risk communication with Asian migrants in a diverse, multicultural country like Auckland, New Zealand, through the case study of the January Auckland flash flood. She used the qualitative research method by collecting the data through semi-structured interviews.

She has completed her Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Myanmar. Before she came to New Zealand for her master's degree, she worked in the construction sector since 2015 as a civil engineer and quantity surveyor.
