Biography

Mojan Mosavat is a PhD candidate in Creative Technologies at the Department of Future Environments, Auckland University of Technology. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design in 2017. Coming from a design background and growing up in a disaster-prone country, she became interested in pursuing creative ways of tackling challenges in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Her PhD project investigates how the application of creative and designerly methods can promote and foster children’s participation in DRR. She is passionate about her PhD project and aims to bring out the creative and imaginative voices of children by fostering meaningful participation in DRR. The design element in her work brings about the opportunity to view DRR and the challenges in DRR from a new and different perspective.
