Meena Ilamurugan
Biography
Meenanayaanie (Meena) Ilamurugan was born in Sri Lanka and raised in New Zealand. Meena holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours majoring in geography, an associate diploma in performing arts and is currently studying towards a Master of Science qualification. Research interests include refugee studies, marginalisation, community development, inclusive governance and disaster risk reduction. Skills comprise of spatial data analysis, geographic information systems and ethnographic research. Has experience as a tutor, project officer, volunteer Tamil language teacher and as a volunteer at the NZ refugee resettlement centre. Meena is fluent in Tamil and English and currently learning Spanish and Hindi. Meena is currently a Geospatial Specialist at Auckland Council.
