Biography

Katherine is a PhD candidate at the University of Auckland. She has experience working on different projects in Asia and the Pacific based around people’s participation in reducing disaster risk. Her work and research has a particular focus on fostering children’s participation in disaster risk reduction and participatory research, and developing participatory tools. Her PhD is looking into the theory and practice of participation in disaster risk reduction on the west coast of New Zealand, providing an opportunity to apply lessons learnt from participation in international development to the New Zealand context.
