Jackie Bubb

 

Biography

Jackie has several years work experience in emergency management and disaster risk reduction in the Pacific and New Zealand. Through this she has become increasingly interested in the opportunities and challenges associated with operationalizing theory and strategy. Recently she was appointed Disaster Response Manager for New Zealand Red Cross. Prior to this she lived in Vanuatu working as a DRR Advisor for World Vision Vanuatu/Volunteer Service Abroad, and then contractor to World Vision Pacific and Timor-Leste.  In New Zealand she held various roles with Auckland Emergency Management (CDEM) including Senior Resilience Advisor, Emergency Management Advisor and Logistics.

Jackie has a Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Management, and a BA in Psychology and Education. She is currently completing a Master of Philosophy at AUT. Her thesis focuses on the operationalization, effectiveness and sustainability of community-based approach to disaster risk reduction using Vanuatu as a case study. Jackie speaks English and Bislama.
