Emman B. Garcia

Biography

Emman is the current president of the Philippine Geographical Society and serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is a licensed Environmental Planner and has a Diploma and Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the School of Urban and Regional Planning in UP Diliman. His research engagements include participatory and community-based disaster risk reduction and management, tourism management, transport, heritage and conservation. In 2017, he served as the Program manager of the Child-Centered Participatory Approaches and GIS for Disaster Risk reduction, a project collaboration between the Philippine Geographical Society and UNICEF Philippines along with select local government units and civil society organizations for promoting child-centered approaches in disaster risk reduction and management.
