Biography

Isaac has completed a Bachelor of Psychology in 2020 from the University of Waikato and then completed the Postgraduate Diploma of Disaster Risk Management and Development at Auckland University of Technology in 2022. Following the completion of his post graduate studies, Isaac joined Tauranga City Council as their Community Resilience Advisor in the Civil Defence Emergency Management Team. As part of his work at Tauranga City Council Emergency Management, Isaac has focused on helping Tauranga’s community to prepare and respond to emergencies. Since the beginning of 2023, Isaac has responded to various emergencies, including being deployed to Wairoa to help them respond to Cyclone Gabrielle.

He has been interested in utilising modern tools to reduce the impact disasters have on people. His dissertation will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of an earthquake and tsunami virtual reality tool in creating behaviour change.
